1978 and 1979 Macho Trans Am

In 1977, Dennis and Kyle Mecham turned out a limited series of grand touring Trans Ams that they dubbed the "Macho T/A". These cars were sold through their father's Pontiac dealership and moved unhaltingly out the door.
Due to the success of their pilot year, DKM Design, Performance, Inc. was formed in 1978 and the program was expanded to over 200 cars which were made available to other Pontiac Dealers. Another 200+ cars were rolled out during the 1979 model year while the Pontiac 400 engine was still in vogue. (source Mecham Performance)
On these cars the labeled the "Macho Trans Am" and added a different color scheme as well. A few ways to spot these is their unique number on the front bumper and rear spoiler. The center bird of the steering wheel was replaced with DKM and a plaque was placed on the console indicating the car had been modified by DKM and the number of the car was on the plaque as well. From what I have seen, they were all manual transmissions and some were changed to 5-speeds.
